I've always been drawn to sculpture — Henry Moore's sense of form especially, and closer to ceramics, the work of Wendy Lawrence. That interest finds its way into these pieces: less about use, more about shape, texture, and what the clay can be pushed to do.
Everything here is fired at high temperature, partly for the same reason as the domestic ware — tough enough to withstand the Scottish weather outdoors, not just sit on a shelf indoors.
